George Crockett Academy depends on the community to provide resources for continued improvement. The school developed interactive learning, mentoring and internship programs with local high schools and universities, including University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, Wayne State University and Wayne County Community College, Murray-Wright High School and Henry Ford Academy.

The academy enjoys a close working relationship with the Detroit Library main branch and is involved with Mosaic Youth Theatre, Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program, Think Detroit and Mercy Project. Additional community involvement activities include:
