Marylou Van Antwerp, interim school leader
Marylou Van Antwerp brings to the Leona Group a strong background in educational leadership and years of proven experience in teaching, mentoring and leadership. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Detroit in education, a master's degree in educational administration and a master's degree in theology from St. John's Provincial Seminary.
Marylou taught elementary and middle school for many years before becoming an administrator. She also taught for four years in Bolivia as a missionary. Currently she is completing 12 years as an administrator/mentor and consultant with the Leona Group. Her understanding of the curriculum comes from many years of working in the classroom at different grade levels and serving as a curriculum chair in reading and in math at different times in her career.
Marylou has three children and six grand children. She and her husband George have been involved in Detroit for many years serving in different roles always with the conviction of "whatever it takes" to empower those who think they are powerless.
